Will of Robert Preswick of Guisbrough, Yorks.

Dated Dec. 1677, proved 10.4.1678 at York.




In ye name of god Amen, I Robert Preswick of Gisbrough being sick of body, but of sound and pfect minde & memory, praise be therefore given to Allmighty god, doe make & ordaine this my psent last will & testamt in Maner & forme following; yt is to say, first and principally, I comend my Soule into ye hands of Allmighty God, hopeing through ye Merrits, death, & passion, of my saviour Jesus Christ, to have full and free pardon of all my Sins, and to Inherit everlasting life; & my body I comit to ye earth, to be decently buried att ye discretion of my executrix hereafter named; & as touching ye disposition of all such temporall estate as it hath pleased All mighty God to bestow upon me, I give, and dispose therof as followeth; 

first, I will, yf my debts & funerall charges shall be paid and discharged; 

Item I bequeath unto my Brother Thomas Preswick, my best close, and to him & my sister Margrett Preswick; I give all ye Intrest I have in ye house in North=out=gate, now in ye occupacon of my mother; they paying from time to time ye rents, dutyes, & taxes, yt shall be from thence required; 

Item, if in case my wife Marry againe I give unto my sone John Preswick my close caled Stoope close, and halfe ye ground caled by ye name of Curry ground, ye same yt was Jane Curryes, now my Mother in law and upon ye sd marrig (if it shall soe happne to be) yt .... all ye benifitts advantages and pfitts of ye abovesd ground, to ye onely use educacon and bringing up of my sone John to be ?converted? and Imployed from thence forward; 

All ye rest and residue of my personall estate goods and chattles what soever, I do give and bequeath unto my loveing wife, Jane Preswick, whom I make full and sole executrix of this my last will and testamt and I doe herby revoak and disanull all other wills & testamts hertofore by me made, the ..enteth day of December Anoq dom 1677
