Will of John Pressick of Whitby, Yorks, Gentleman.

Dated 3.3.1820, proved 26.4.1820 at London.

This is the last Will and Testament of me John Pressick of Whitby in the county of York Gentleman made this third day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty 

I give to my relation Jane the Wife of Robert Campion of Whitby aforesaid banker the legacy or sum of one thousand pounds 

I give to my relation Grace the Wife of John Holt of the same place banker a like legacy or sum of one thousand pounds 

I give to my relation Elizabeth Dickinson of the same place widow of George Dickinson whitesmith deceased the legacy or sum of three hundred pounds 

I give to my relation Esther Marchand wife of Thomas Marchand of the same place Master Mariner the legacy or sum of two hundred pounds 

I give to my relation Francis Harrison of the same place Carpenter the brother of the said Elizabeth Dickinson and Esther Marchand the legacy or sum of two hundred pounds and I direct that the said several legacies shall be paid by my Executrix hereinafter named at the end of twelve calendar months next after my decease but without any interest 

in the mean time for the same I give to my Cousin Margaret Pressick of Whitby aforesaid Spinster daughter of my Uncle Samuel Pressick deceased her executors administrators and assigns the sum of five hundred pounds upon the trusts following (that is to say) upon trust to place out the same upon government or other securities at interest and to pay the dividends or proceeds therefrom arising to my relation Elizabeth Spence of the same place widow of Thomas Spence deceased for and during the natural life of her the said Elizabeth Spence by four equal quarterly payments in the year the first payment thereof to begin and be made at the end of three calendar months next after my decease and from and after the decease of the said Elizabeth Spence I declare & direct that the said Margaret Pressick shall stand possessed and interested of and in the said sum of five hundred pounds In trust for Rebecca Spence the daughter of the said Elizabeth Spence to be paid to her on her attaining the age of twenty one years and I direct that the interest of the said sum of five hundred pounds shall from and after the decease of the said Elizabeth Spence and until her said daughter Rebecca Spence attains her age of twenty one years be applied towards her maintenance and education in such a manner as the said Margaret Pressick shall think most expedient 

I give to my housekeeper Esther Storey the annuity or yearly sum of forty pounds to be paid to her during her natural life by four equal quarterly payments in the year the first payment thereof to begin and be made at the end of three calendar months next after my decease 

I give to the Governors Trustees or Directors of the Seamens Hospital at Whitby aforesaid the sum of fifty pounds to be applied for the benevolent purposes of that Institution 

I give the sum of twenty five pounds to the trustees or managers of the of the public dispensary of Whitby aforesaid to be appropriated by them towards the relief of the objects of that Institution 

I also give the sum of twenty five pounds to the trustees managers or directors of the Marine Club at Whitby aforesaid to be applied towards the support of that Establishment 

I give and bequeath all my plate linen and household furniture to the said Margaret Pressick and I give all my ready money stocks or money in the public funds and all other my Personal estate of what nature or kindsoever unto my said Cousin Margaret Pressick her executors administrators and assigns in Trust thereout to pay the debts which I shall owe at the time of my decease and the expences of my funeral and of proving this my will and upon further trust to pay satisfy and discharge the said legacies or sums of money hereinbefore specifically given and bequeathed and also the annuity or yearly sum of forty pounds to my said housekeeper Esther Storey and as to the rest residue and remainder of my personal estate I declare and direct that the said Margaret Pressick shall retain the same for her sole use and benefit I give and devise the Freehold messuage or dwellinghouse in which I now reside and the two dwellinghouses or tenements thereunto adjoining in the several occupations of Richard Theaker and Wilfred Harrison and all other my real estate unto the said Margaret Pressick her heirs & assigns for ever I appoint the said Margaret Pressick sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament and I hereby revoke all former Wills In witness whereof I have to this my last Will and testament contained in this and the preceding sheet of paper hereto annexed set my hand and seal to wit my hand to the bottom of the said preceding sheet my hand and seal to this sheet and my seal at the top of the preceding sheet where the said sheets are fixed together the day and year first within written John Pressick
