Will of George Preswick of Guisbrough, Yorks, weaver.

Dated 1.1.1678, proved 18.10.1679 at York.




In the name of God Amen the first day of January one thousand six hundred seaventy and eight in the 30th yeare of the King that now is ?..? I George Preswick of Gisbrough within the Diocese of Yorke weaver being Aiged weake and impotent in body but of sound and perfect memory praise be given to Almighty God for the same and knowing the uncertainty of this life on earth and being desirous to settle things in order do make this my last Will and Testament in Manner and forme following that is to say first and principally I Commend my soul to Almighty God my Creator: Assuredly believing that I shall Receive Full pardon and free Remission of all my sins and be saved by the precious death and Mirits of my blessed Saviour and Redeemer Christ Jesus and my body to the earth from whence it was taken to be buried in such descent and Christian Manner as to my Executor here after named shall be thought meet and convenient and as tuching such worldly estate as the Lord in Mercy hath lent me my will and meaning is the same shall be Imployed and bestowed as hereafter by this my will is Expressed and first I do Revoake Renounce frustrate and make voyd all Wills by me formerly made and declare and Appoint this my last Will and Testament

Item I give and bequeath to Christopher Preswick my son forty pounds in money to be paid to him as followeth that is to say when he hath Accomplished the Age of Twenty three years ten pounds and ten pounds yearly for three years next and emidatly following the said twenty third yeare of his Age and all his Apparrill to be found for him by my Executor during his Apprentiship or twenty shillings yearly during his said Apprentiship which he pleaseth to chouse and also I give to him one third part of all my houshold goods

Item I give to Oliver Preswick my son forty pounds in moneis to be paid to him as followeth that is to say if he shall go to learne a trade what moneis will be given with him for learning the said traid shall be the first part and payment of parte of the said forty pounds and when he hath Accomplyhed the Age of twenty and three years of Age then the rest to be paid to him in three years next and Immeadiatly following at three seaverall payments by eaven and eaquall portion each of the said three years one third part of the said moneie and my Executor shall finde him all his Apparill with meat drinke and lodgeing and ?conteinen? scoole learning tell he be of fitt Age to goe to learne a traid and then shall find him all his Apparill during his tearme of Apprentiship or twenty shillinge yearly during the said tearm of Apprentiship which he pleaseth to chouse and also I give to him one third part of all my household goods

It the rest of all my goods and chattels movable and Immovable I give and bequeath to Thomas Preswick my son whome I make sole Executor of this my last will and Testament in witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seale the day and yeare first within written
