Will of Christopher Priswick of Debtford, Kent, Carlton, Mariner.

Dated 4.9.1738, proved 6.12.1739 & 12.2.1739/40 at London.

In the Name of God Amen I Christopher Priswick of Debtford in the County of Kent Marriner (now Commander of a Ship called the Gold lying in Patapsco River in Baltimore County and province of Maryland) being in health of Body and of sound perfect mind and memory blessed be God Considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time thereof do make publish and declare my last Will and testament in the manner and Form Following (that is to say) 

First and principally I Commend my Soul into the hands of the Almighty God my Creator my body I commit to the Earth or Sea as it shall please God to Order And as for and concerning all such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God of his Infinite goodness to bestow on me and whereof I shall be possessed or whereunto Intituled at the time of my decease I give devise and dispose of the same in manner following 

Imprimis I give and bequeath unto my Brother Robert Priswick of Gisborough in the County of York the sum of Fifty pounds to be paid him by my Executrix or Executors hereinafter mentioned within twelve months after my decease 

Item I give devise and bequeath unto my Brother Thomas Priswick of Gisborough aforesaid all my Right Title and Interest Term of years to come property Claim and demand whatsoever of in and to a certain Messuage or Tenement Lands and Premises thereunto belonging with its rights members and appurtenances Scituate and lying in Gisborough aforesaid and are now holden by my said Brother Thomas and my self of Edward Chaloner Esqr To hold to my said Brother Thomas Priswick his Executors Admrs and Assigns from and immediately after my decease during the remainder of all such Term and Terms of years as shall be then to come therein 

Item I give and bequeath unto my Brother Oliver Priswick and to my Sister Isabella Priswick both of Gisborough aforesaid the sum of Fifty pounds apiece to be paid them severally within twelve months next after my decease by my said Executrix or Executors 

Item I give and bequeath unto my Sister Grace the Wife of William Chapman of Gisborough aforesaid the sum of Fifty pounds for her sole and separate use to be paid to her by my said executrix or Executors within twelve months next after my decease 

Item I give devise and bequeath all that my Brick Messuage or dwellinge house Lying in Union Street in the Parish of St Nicholas Debtford in the County of Kent and which I lately purchased of Thomas Lucas and Thamer Lucas Widow and of the executors of the last Will of the said Thomas Lucas deceased with all its rights hereditaments members and appurtenances whatsoever unto my loving Wife Mary Priswick To hold the same to her during her naturall life only and from and after her decease then it is my Will that the said Brick Messuage with the appurts thereunto belonging be sold at Publick Auction and the Produce thereof to be equally divided between my Son in Law Thomas Colles of the parish of St Paul Debtford in the County of Kent Distiller who is the son of my Wife by a former Husband and his three first lawfull born Children (whose names at present I cannot remember) and I do hereby Will and direct that the three quarter parts of the produce of the said house be put out to Interest untill the aforesaid Children comes of age and then to be paid them by my Exexutrix or Executors aforesaid and the other quarter part to be paid unto the said Thomas Colles by my Executrix or Executors aforesaid within twelve months next after the sale of the said house 

Item all the rest residue and remainder of all my Estate & Effects whatsoever both real and personall either in possession Reversion or Remainder not herein by me given devised or disposed of I give devise and bequeath the same unto my loving Wife Mary Priswick for and during her natural life with Impeachment for wast and in case the said Mary Priswick shall be living at my decease I do hereby nominate and appoint her my Executrix and Thomas Priswick and Robert Crundwell my Executors and it is my true intent and meaning that after my Wifes decease I Will and bequeath all the Remainder both reall and Personall either in possession Reversion or Remainder unto my forementioned Brothers and Sisters vizt Robert Priswick, Thomas Priswick, Oliver Priswick, Isabella Priswick, Grace Chapman share and share alike and I do hereby revoke and make void all former Wills by me at any time made and do declare these presents and none other to be and contain my whole and sole full Will and Testament In Witness whereof I the said Christopher Priswick have to this my said Will subscribed my Name and seal this Fourth day of September in the twelfth year of the Reigne or our Sovereign Lord George the second by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King defender of the Faith and so forth and in the year of Our Lord 1738 Chris Priswick

This Will was proved at London on the Sixth Day of December in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and thirty nine before the Worshipfull Charles Pinfold Junior Doctor of Laws and Surrogate of the Right Worshipfull John Bettesworth Doctor of Laws Master Keeper of the Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the Oath of Mary Priswick Widow the relict of the deceased and Robert Crundwell two of the executors named in the said Will To Whom Administration was granted of all and singular the Goods Chattells and Credits of the said deceased they being first Sworn well and duly to administer the same Reserving power to make the like Grant to Thomas Priswick the other Executor named in the said will when he prays the same 

This Will was proved at London On the Twelfth Day of February in the year of our Lord One Thousand seven hundred and thirty nine before the Right Worshipfull John Bettesworth Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the Oath of Thomas Priswick the other Executor named in the said Will to whom administration was granted of all and singular the Goods Chattells and Credits of the said deceased he being first Sworn (by Commission) well and duly to administer the same.
