In the Name of God Amen,
I Thomas Porrit of Dale House, in the Parish
of Roxby and county of York, being Weak in Body, but of a perfect
sound mind and memory, praised be the Almighty God for the same, do
hereby make and publish this my last Will and Testament in the manner
and form following, That is to say
First and principally I commend my soul, into the hands of Almighty God, my Creator, hoping through the merits of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, to receive pardon and forgiveness, for all my sins and to inherit eternal Life, and my Body I commit unto the Earth, to be decently Intered at the discretion of my Executor, hereafter named and as touching the disposition of all such temporal effects, as it hath pleased Almighty God to bestow upon me, I give and dispose thereof as follows,(viz) to have a decent funeral and after the funeral expences are paid duly and truly,
I give & devise unto my eldest Son William Porrit, the sum of Forty Pounds, of Good & Lawful Money, of Great Brittain to be paid him by my Son Thos. Porrit, my executor & Administrator, soon as convenient after my decease,
Also I give and devise unto my youngest Son Robert Porrit, the sum of Twenty Pounds of good & lawfull Money to be paid him by my executor above named as soon as convenient after my decease
Also, unto
my beloved Daughter, Seithel Bowes Wife of Christopher Bowes, I give
and devise the Sum of Sixty Pounds, of Good & lawfull Money to be paid
her by my executor above named as soon as convenient after my decease
and my Will & pleasure is and I do hereby order and Direct, that after
my decease I do give and bequeath unto my only Daughter above named,
all the Household Furniture Beds Bedding, Linen Plate &c & of all
description whatever, and which are now in her possession, This to be
taken as my last Will & Testament in Witness whereunto I have this day
set my hand & seal, this 19th day of April in the year of our Lord
