Will & Inventory of William Poritte, Hartlepool, Co. Durham, Gentleman.

 

Will, Dated 9.1.1664.

 
In the name off God Amen I William Poritte of Hartinpooll in the Countie of durham gentleman being now of parffitt memerey and understanding taking into my consederation that all Flesh is mortall and that nothing is more Carten than death and yet nothing more uncarton than the time of death And being desierous now whilst I am in parfitt memorey and understanding to setell and despose my temperall estaitte wheare wth God hath blesed me In that as I happrehend to be to gods glorey ye h..... of my memory and ye good of my Cheldring kindred & Frend Do make ordaine and publish this my last will and testemt in mannere and Forme Following
First I give my Soule to Allmightie God who gaive it unto me
Item I give my Body to the Earth From whence it came And I commend my Sou.. and Body to my sweate saver Christ Jesus and truste that by his death and passion of that my sweate saver and by his merittes my soule shall be saved and that at the daye off Judgmt my soule & bodie shall be reunited and rise to the etarnall joyes and glorey of heaven there to Reine Etarnalley wth God our Blesed Ladey the Angells and Saintes
And For my parsonall and temperall Estaite I devise bequeath and dispose itt in manner and Forme Followinge
That wheareas there is the some off Forty Five poundes dew to me From Mr Ralph Gorlson off Lumly Castle payabell upon the daye off my death to my Childring or to such other parsons as I by my Last Will & testement should give & bequith the same unto
Item I doe devise and bequeath and dispose out of the above sayd som of 45£ to Richard Clark my sone in Law the some off twenty poundes in Full of my dowghter Mareyes part & portion and in Full satisfaction of my Bond wch my sone Richard Clarke hath for the payment of my sd daughter Mareyes portion his now wife
Item I devise give and bequeath unto my daughter Dorothey Poritt the some of Five poundes in Full of all her part & portion off all my goods and Chatelles what some ever I dey seased upon
Item I devise give and bequeath Fouere poundes to be disposed upon by my daughter Ann Poritt as I by my word or writing shall give her orders at my death to despose of to such ?eufrs? as I think Fit & shall declayre to here
Ittem I give & bequeath unto Mr William Hodshon to bestow in a morning Ringe ye some of tenn shillinges
Ittem I give & bequeath to such power wedows as I shall appoint my daughter Ann Poritt to give it two tenn shillinges
Ittem I give & bequeath unto my dawther Ann Poritt tenn poundes in money my blacke Cow wth all my housald stuffe & other goods what som ever I dey seased upon at ye hower of my death
Ittem my will is that the Five poundes remaining undesposed upon shall goe to descharge my Funerall expences And my will allso is that if possibell it cane be that my bodey shall be bureed in ye Churchyard wth in ye Frieridg at Hartinpooll
Ittem I nomenatt constetut & appoint my dawther Ann Poritt to be my Full Executerx of this my last well and Testement desiering here to get this my will parformed in all thinges as well as the estait wch I leive well beare In Wittnes wheareof I have heare unto put my hand and seale and allso publshe & declaire this to be my last will and testement this ninth day of January in the yeare of oure Lord God one thousand six hundred sixty and Four
