In the Name of God Amen - I Matthew Porrit of Mickleby in the parish of Lyth in the County of York Yeoman being of Sound & perfect Mind, Memory & Understanding do make publish and declare this my last will & testament in Manner & form following, that is to say
- First I give & devise unto my Son William Porrit the House I now live in with all the Out Housing belonging to it & the Close adjoining thereto also an intack called Hodgson's intack also one half the enclosed Ground late belonging to John Shimmen & one half of all the moor land now enclosed belonging to me also one half of all my land laying below Mickleby & adjoining Wm Cass junior all to him his Heirs and assigns for ever
- Also I give and devise unto my Son Matthew Porrit all the House and Housing late belonging to John Shimmin also one half the enclosed Ground late belonging to John Shimmin & one half of all the Moor land now enclosed belonging to me also one Close called little intack also one half of all my land laying below Mickleby & adjoining Wm Cass junior
- Also I give & bequeath to my Daughter Mary Barnaby the sum of One Hundred Pounds of Lawfull Money of Great Brittain to be paid her by my Executors hereafter named at the end of twelve calendar Months next after my decease
- Also I give and bequeath to my daughter Ann Porrit the Sum of One Hundred Pounds of lawfull Money of Great Brittain to be paid her at the end of Twelve Calendar Months next after my decease by my Executors. Also one pair of Chest of Drawers One Chest One Round Dining Table One Bed & Bedding all in the parlour Also all her Mother Ann Porrit's Wearing apparel with the Linnen of all sorts belonging to her at her decease
- Also I give & bequeath to my wife Ann Porrit the sum of four Pounds every year to be paid her by my Executors during her natural live share & share alike
- also I give and bequeath to my son Wm Porrit all my Husbandry Geers viz ploughs Harrows &c
- Also I give and bequeath to my sons William & Matthew Porrit all the rest residue & remainder of my Household goods & implements of Household Plate Beds Bedding & all sorts of Furniture not herein disposed of
- Also all the rest residue & remainder of my
Goods & Chattels personal & Real Estate & Effects whatsoever
wheresoever & of what nature & Kindsoever equally to be divided
between them my said sons Wm & Matthew Porrit share & share alike
( my just Debts and Funeral Expenses being first paid & satisfied) &
lastly i make nominate & appoint my said sons Wm Matthew Sole
Executors of this my last will and Testament hereby Revoking all other
will or wills heretofore made & published by me In Testimony whereof
I have hereunto set hand seal this Twentieth Day of October in the
year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred Eighty Nine....
