Will of Francis Porritt, Great Moorsom, Skelton, Yorks, Yeoman. 

 

Dated  15.3.1762, proved 5.8.1765 at York.

In the Name of God Amen I Francis Porritt of Great Moorsome in the parish of Skelton in the County of York Yeoman being of sound and perfect disposing Mind and Memory praised be God for it and considering the uncertainty of this life and to prevent disputes and differances after my decease DO make and constitute this my last Will and Testament hereby revoaking and annulling all former and other Will and Wills by me at any time heretofore made 

FIRST I give devise and bequeath unto my Dear wife Ann Porritt and her assigns for and during the term of her naturall Life one annuity or yearly sum of six pounds of lawfull money of Great Britain to be issuing out of and hereby charged and chargeable upon all and every my Real and personal Estate whatsoever AND I do charge all and every my real and personal estate whatsoever with the payment of the said annuity or yearly sum of Six pounds accordingly to be paid to my said wife Ann Porritt during her naturall life as aforesaid by four even and equall quarterly payments in every year (that is to say) on the Twenty fifth day of March the Twenty fourth day of June the twenty ninth day of September and the Twenty fifth day of December the first payment to be made at the first of the said days which shall happen next after my decease AND it shall and may be lawfull for my said Wife or her assigns in case of non payment of the said yearly sum or any part thereof at the times abovementioned for payment thereof to enter upon all or any part of my reall or personall Estate whatsoever to enter and distrain and the distress and distresses then and there taken at the end of five days to sell and thereout deduct and retain the said yearly sum or such part thereof as shall be then in arrear together with all costs occasioned thereby 

I ALSO give devise and bequeath unto my said Dear wife Ann Porritt the use of one bed bedstead and bedding thereunto belonging and also such part of my household goods as she shall choose for and during the term of her naturall life and from and after her decease thereby give devise and bequeath the same and every part thereof unto my two sons Robert and Joseph Porritt to be equally divided between them by share and share alike 

I ALSO give devise and bequeath unto my daughter in law Mary Porritt widow of my son Francis Porritt deceased the sum of Twelve pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid to her at the end of twelve months next after my decease 

I ALSO hereby give devise and bequeath unto my eight Grandchildren Thomas Porritt Isaac Porritt William Porritt Mary Porritt Susannah Porritt Elizabeth Porritt Margarett Porritt and Martha Porritt children of my late son Francis Porritt deceased the sum of six pounds each of lawfull money of Great Britain to be paid to them respectively at the end of six months next after my decease 

I ALSO hereby give devise and bequeath unto my daughter Alice Wilkinson the sum of five pounds of like lawfull money of Great Britain to be paid to her within six calendar months next after my decease 

I ALSO give devise and bequeath unto my daughter Margaret Knaggs the like sum of five pounds of like lawful money to be paid to her also within six calendar months next after my decease 

I ALSO hereby give devise and bequeath unto my Grandson Thomas Porritt son of my late son Thomas Porritt deceased the sum of three pounds and to my two Grandaughters Ann Potter and Mary Cook Children of my late son Thomas Porritt deceased the sum of twenty shillings each to be paid to them respectively at the end of six calendar months next after my decease 

I ALSO hereby give devise and bequeath unto my three Grandchildren Robert Alice and Mary children of my son in law Robert Wilson by my late daughter Mary deceased to each of them twenty shillings to be paid to them respectively at the end of six months next after my decease 

I ALSO give and bequeath unto my Grandson Francis Porritt son of my son Joseph Porritt my clock 

I Also hereby give devise and bequeath unto my son Robert Porritt his heirs and assigns for ever all that close or parcell of ground called or known by the name of Bahn Busk by me purchased of Zachary Harnage More Esquire TO HOLD to my said son Robert Porritt his heirs and assigns for ever 

I ALSO hereby give devise and bequeath unto my said two sons Robert Porritt and Joseph Porritt their heirs and assigns for ever in severalty equally to be divided between them by share and share alike All the rest residue and remainder of all and every my Messuages houses outhouses Garths closes Lands Grounds and real eatates whatsoever and wheresoever TO HOLD the same to them and their heirs as tenants in common and not as jointenants and also all the residue and remainder of my personal estate whatsoever not herein before by me disposed of my debts legacies and funeral expenses being first thereout paid and discharged and I do constitute nominate and appoint my said two sons Robert Porritt and Joseph Porritt joint executors of this my last will and testament IN WITNESS whereof I the said Francis Porritt have hereunto sett my hand and seal this Fifteenth day of March in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty two
