The
eighth day of the month of October in the year of Our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and forty Before the Reverend Thomas Brock M. A.
Commissary of the Island of Guernsey and Surrogate of the Right
Reverend Father in God Charles Richard Lord Bishop of Winchester The
Testament hereunder written has been proved after that Thomas Prio..x
James Carey George Le Febore and John Melliott Esquires have declared
on Oath that the said Testament is written and signed with the proper
handwriting of the late Robert Porret Le Marchant Esquire the Testator
And has John Le Marchant Esquire been sworn Executor of the said
Testament of which the tenor followeth
In the Name of
God Amen I undersigned Robert Porret Le Marchant do hereby make my last
Will and Testament to say I leave & bequeath to my daughter Mary
Guille Le Marchant Wife of John Le Marchant Esqr all & every such
part of my personal property as would have come to her of right in case
she has not been ?..monnipated? by her marriage with the said Mr Le
Marchant or otherwise deducting therefrom nevertheless the Stock I have
transferred in the name of Trustees for her use and behoof as
enumerated in her marriage contract bearing date the 10th day of
January 1811 & also the sum of fifty seven pounds nine shillings
Ster. also paid him upon the said Marriage my wish & intention
being that my children at my death be put on the same footing so that
one may have no advantage over the other further understanding &
willing that if the said Mary Guille Le Marchant should die before me
leaving children this bequest or part of my personal property shall go
to such children share and share alike
2dly I leave and
bequeath to my daughter Harriet Hirzel Le Marchant Wife of Octavius
Carey Esqr the same equal part & portion of my said personal
property as to the above named Mary deducting therefrom nevertheless
the sum of five thousand pounds 3 Pr Ct consolidated annuities further
understanding & willing that if the said Harriot should die before
me leaving children this bequest or part of my personal property shall
go to such children share and share alike and also that if the said
Mary and Harriot should be living at the time of my death or either of
them the portion or portions of such shall be placed in the hands of
trustees for the use & behoof of both or either of them as may
happen being settled upon them or either of them & that in the
event of either of them dying without children such portion of my
property shall go to the other or her children
3dly I leave & bequeath to my Sister Miss Martha Le Marchant one hundred pounds & to Doctor Walters twenty pounds
Moreover
I name and appoint Mrs Mary Ozanue my Wife sole Executrix of this my
last Will and Testament bequeathing to her all my Manuscripts papers
& writings whatever whether in Books Letters or otherwise such part
as may belong to or regard my real estate excepted and in case of her
decease before mine or that she should decline this Executorship I
appoint the aforementioned John Le Marchant Esqr sole Executor of this
my said last Will & Testament bequeathing to him then & in such
case all such my Manuscripts papers and writings as desired and
explained in the foregoing part of this article Guernsey the 28th day
of Decemr 1819 R. P. Le Marchant
We Thomas Brock Commissary and
Surrogate aforesaid do approve (saving to others their right ) the
Testament above written to be the Testament and last Will of the late
Robert Porret Le Marchant Esquire the Testator. In Faith whereof we
have signed these presents and have caused our seal to be hereunto
affixed the fifteenth day of the month of October in the year of Our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty

at London 17th November 1840 before the Worshipful Joseph Phillimore
Doctor of Laws and Surrogate by the Oath of John Le Marchant Esquire
the substituted Executor to whom Admon was granted having been first
sworn duly to administer Mary Ozanue the Wife of the deceased the
Executrix named in the Will died in the lifetime of the said deceased
