Will & Inventory of Robert Hett, Elwicke, Co. Durham.

 

Dated 18.3.1688, proved 13.4.1693 at Durham.

In the name of God Amen I Robert Hett of Elwicke the eldr in the County of Durham yeoman being sicke and weake in body but of sound and pfect memory praised be God for the same; and knowing the uncertainty of this life, and being desirous to settle things in order, doe make this my last will and testament in manner and form followinge: that is to say first and principally I commend my soule to allmighty god my creator, assuredly believing that I shall recieve full pardon and remission of all my sins, and be saved by the precious death and meritts of my saviour Christ Jesus: 

First I doe renounce frustrate and make voide all wills formerly by me made, either by word or writeinge, and declare and appoynt this my last will and testament 

Impr I give to Robert Hett of Elwick son to William Hett of Elwicke aforesaid and to his heires and assignes for ever, All my land scituate lying and beinge in Elwicke aforesaid, and in the psh of Hart, called by the name of Ox close pasture being in computacon twenty five acres be it more or less with two chambers and a Byar, and a house with a mill commonly called the horse mill, with the back yard thiereunto belonging, boundred on the East of the entry of the said Robert Hetts house: 

It my will and pleasure is that the said Robert Hett his heires or assignes doe pay the sum of four score and twelve pound in manner and form followinge: (vizt) 

Twenty pound to Mary Wardell daughter of Geo: Wardell & Eliz his wife desceased of Trimdon Park house in the psh of Trimdon when she shall be aged twenty and four yeares: 

It twenty pound to Robert Wardell son to the aforesd Geo: Wardell when he shall be aged twenty and four years 

It: twenty pound to Eliz: Wardell daughtr of the said Geo: and Eliz: Wardell when she shall be aged twenty & four yeares 

It: twenty pound to Jane Wardell daughtr to the said Geo: and Eliz: Wardell when she shall be aged twenty and four years 

It: I give to Margrat Piert daughter to Willm Hett of Elwick desceased four pound to be paid to her two years after my descease 

It. I give to Robert son to Thomas Hett of Elwick four pound to be paid to him two yeares after my descease

It to Eliz: Hett daughter of the said Tho: Hett four pound to be paid to her two years after my descease: 

It: I give all my house hold stufe at Trimdon Park house to Mary Wardell and Eliz: Wardell abovesaid to be equally divided betwixt them 

It my will and pleasure is that if the said Mary Wardell, Robert Wardell, Eliz: Wardell, Jane Wardell, Robert Hett, Eliz Hett and Margrat Piert, any of them shall dy before there legacyes become due as is above expressed that ther legacys come to my executor hereafter named his heires or assignes, lastly my will and pleasure is that the said Robert Hett son of William Hett desceased of Elwick abovenamed, be sole Executor of this my last will and testa after my descease: In wittnesse whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seale the eighteenth day of March: Ann Dm 1688
