Marwood v. Prissicke, Eyres, Jones and others: York
Brief notes only:
Complaint of William Marwood of Little Busby, York, Gent (not dated although by implication is likely to be late 1613 or 1614):
-
Christopher Prissick of Carlton in Cleveland has been subject to writ
of debt in the Court of Common Pleas and was committed to the Prison of
the Fleete where he remained until the terme of July Trinity last past
"..distinctelie refusinge to satisfie the said debte..".

Christopher Prissick is a person of "evle disposicon .......... prone
to all lewde and despate attempts affectinge and purposinge by some
unlawful means to pcure his libertie..".
- At whitsuntide last
past "..Walter Eyre, John Lether, William Wickham and John Jones beinge
all or the most of them fugitive psons of noe worth....... men of most
vile and wicked ........ behavior who for bribes and rewards to them
.....".
- In June last past they forged a generall release
bearinge date the twenty second of August in the said tenth yere of his
Majesties Raigne. This release also included the release of Henry
Mallam weaver of Carlton. Mentions lands called Norton's Long Acres in
Little Busby
Christopher Prissick was set at liberty as a consequence of the above release.
Severall and joynt answers of Christopher Prissicke William Wickham and John Jones (dated May, 14th year James)
- Christopher Prissick denies forgery, and claims he believed the release came from the complainant.

mention of Christopher Prissicke's son who is a free holder "..in the
towne where he dwelleth" and claims that this whole dispute is a means
for William Marwood to procure the land from the sonne of Christopher
Prissicke.
- William Whickham says that he is not guilty and
only became baile for Christopher Prissicke " ..for meare affecon borne
towards him the said deft Prissick haveinge married the late widdow and
wife of the said Prissickes brother deceased.."
