Prissick v Prissick (1716)

Answers of Mary Prissick one of the defendants to the Bill of Complaint of Christopher Prissick surgeon & of John Prissick & Elizabeth Prissick infants, by Christopher Prissick of London Merchant their Unckle.

Note this answer refers to the complaint outlined in C11/2354/12, and therefore family details which are already outlined in that extract are not repeated here.

- dates Thomas Attwell's will to May 1687, died 1690
- notes her parents (Robert & Elizabeth Booth) were involved in extensive suits regarding the will of Thomas Attwell
- Robert Booth mortgaged the properties on St Bottolph's Lane in June 1691 to Christopher Prissick, London, marriner for £350 & eventually for £660
- in 1695 the mortgage was assigned to Henry Newdick, London, Poulterer, and about 1714 it was transferred to Richd Bowles

- notes that Thomas Prissick failed in his trade of Upholsterer & went severall voyages beyond the sea in the time of the late war with France. He met with many misfortunes, particularly on his third voyage outward when he was taken & plundered of all his effects by the French

- the lease only has 13 1/2 years remaining
- the Dean & Chapter are looking for c. £1000 to renew, although every 7 yr renewal in the past was only c. £40
- Her brother (Thomas Booth) has refused to join in renewing the lease unless she grants him full moiety of the estate
