Joseph Wood, son of Joseph Wood, married Jane Stainton and had three
daughters: Dorothy the wife of Robert Adston, Hannah Barker, and Jane
who died young. Horse Close House Farm was purchased in c. 1726 by
William Pennock, Thomas Frankland & William Longbotham, but the
sale fell through before completion, and it was then purchased by John
Mawer.

John Thrush, Guisbrough, butcher aged 79
- Joseph Wood the elder married the daughter of Thomas Smallwood
Elizabeth Chapman, Carlton in Cleveland, widow aged 72

Joseph Wood the elder left land in trust with Oliver Proddy &
William Knaggs. Elizabeth Chapman is the daughter of Prichard Murton
who bought some of the land from Jospeh Wood and sold it to Anthony
Foster & William Coverdale.
Mary Peirson, Great Ayton, widow aged 80 yrs
- more than 40 years ago she lived in part of Horse Close House Farm until Joseph Wood sold it.

- his father Thomas Smith (now decd) sold an inheritance in 1722 at East Cotham
