Key research targets for the name Porritt.

The really frustrating challenge for the last 25 years on my Porritt line is that although I know the siblings of my earliest known Porritt ancestor, and have done a huge amount of work on likely records, I have not managed to get a sniff at clues for their origins.. My earliest known ancestor is:

• Joseph Porritt 
  • born c. 1700 - 1730
  • married 1749, Egton N. Yorks, to Mary Prissick
  • died 1776, Monkhesledon, Co. Durham

His known siblings are:

• John Porritt - who had at least one son & one daughter
• George Porritt - d. 1776, no children
• Robert Porritt - had at least 2 daughters
• Mary Porritt - no known marriage or children
• Nicholas Porritt - had at least 4 daughters, and is believed to be the Nicholas Porritt who lived in Guisborough in the 1760s
