The main aim of this site is to make available to fellow researchers as much as I can of the Family History information which I have collected over the past 20 years.  I hope in this way to start up a two-way sharing of information regarding those families in which I am most interested.

*******************************************************************************************************************

There is absolutely no charge for the information provided on this site.

However if you have found it to be of value, perhaps you would consider returning the compliment by contributing in one of the following ways to a cause which is very close to my heart:

1. Make a donation to Leukaemia Research at http://www.lrf.org.uk/en/1/donate.html

2. Register as a Bone Marrow Donor. Information for the UK can be found at either http://www.anthonynolan.org.uk/donating/howtojointheregister/ or http://www.blood.co.uk/pages/marrow_info.html , many other countries have their own registers. Have a look, apparently the process of donation is much easier than it used to be.

3. If you're in the UK, and don't already do so, sign up to give blood (if you can). I must admit that I had lapsed over the years, but all I can say is that you will be welcomed back with open arms, and you will also now find it much easier to locate a convenient session by using the search facility on http://www.blood.co.uk/

SEARCH FACILITY :

powered by FreeFind

This should cover all parts of the site except the dynamic family trees, and will accept all the normal search functions such as quoting ( eg "John Holt" ) and wildcards ( eg Ho*lt will return both Holt & Hoult ). NOTE: as surnames in the extracts & transcripts can be found in many strange and wonderful spellings, I STRONGLY recommend the use of wildcard when searching - to the extent that when looking for PRISSICK etc. I use Pr*s*k* (so far I have 21 different spellings!).

 Family Trees:

It will take some time to include everything, so for starters, follow the Family Trees link, and take a look at the published version of  Dave and Sue King's Family Trees.

Probate Transcripts:

I have also started to publish all the transcripts of probate records (i.e. Wills, Inventories etc.) which I have collected over the years, follow the Probate Transcripts link for a full list, which is being regularly added to.

Research Interests:

The Surname list details all those names/locations which I have been researching. Take a look and let me know if we have any common ground.

Over time, I shall be adding links from here to further pages with specific name related information, such as branches of trees not included in my own ancestry, records and document transcripts.

I will be updating the site regularly to add more information, so why not add it to your bookmarks so that you can find it again.

Please feel free to contact me via the guestbook if you would like to share information, or are just interested in the same families. Even if you haven't found the family you are looking for, It's possible that I have information as yet unpublished, so leave a note of the family you were looking for.

Acknowledgements:

Many thanks are due to the many people who have contributed to my research over the years, especially Brian Robinson (Lockeys), Anne Bremner (Porritts) and William Bond (Bonds), also the many members of the Northumberland & Durham, and Cleveland Family History Societies.

The best advice I can give to any beginners reading this, is to join the Family History Society covering your area - their members are always ready to share knowledge and experience.

Grateful thanks also to Andy Martin and Frank Anderton for patiently acting as 'Agony Aunts' during the birth of this site.
